Credit where it is due!

Da Vinci was a truly innovative man. That said, let us consider that his claim to fame was mostly 'desire'...not inventiveness. The majority of his "inventions" were contraptions that had been in use in China for hundreds of years. In fact, Marco Polo documented accounts of such technology as the helicopter rotor and reduction gears two hundred years before Da Vinci was born.

Don't get me wrong...I'm not trying to take any thunder from the legacy of the greatest European inventor of the Renaissance Era. I'm simply reminding the world that East and West were on two very different time-tables until very recently.
